Skowhegan Savings announces plans for Augusta branch

SKOWHEGAN – Skowhegan Savings has announced plans for the construction of a new, state-of-the-art branch located along Civic Center Drive (Route 27) in Augusta. The proposed branch is sited on a parcel of land, south of the Commerce Drive Augusta Business Park. The bank’s plans are subject to local planning board and regulatory approval.
Skowhegan Savings Augusta branch will be accessible from both sides of the road. The branch will feature convenient drive-up banking services as well as an open dialogue concept to promote better customer communication. It will be the first branch in Greater Augusta to utilize this state-of-the-art service format.
“Open dialogue banking allows for more personalized communications with customers,” said John Witherspoon, Skowhegan Savings President and CEO. “It removes the barriers of a traditional teller line, which we think both our employees and our customers will really appreciate.”
With the Augusta branch opening, Skowhegan Savings will re-locate the Belgrade branch located at 940 Augusta Road to the new Augusta branch. Simultaneously, the bank will open a new, state of the art drive-up ATM machine in Belgrade that will accept check and cash deposits as well as dispense cash. “The new Augusta branch, only 8 miles or 10 minutes from our existing branch, is highly accessible and convenient for our existing Belgrade customers, many of whom work or shop in Augusta,” said John Witherspoon.
Upon completion of the new Augusta branch anticipated for March 2013, Belgrade Branch Manager Meghan Loubier and her team will relocate to the new Augusta branch. Until that time, the Belgrade branch will continue to operate as usual.
