Pittsfield gardening forum Saturday, April 21

PITTSFIELD – There will be a free gardening forum at the Warsaw Middle School cafeteria on Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
   Are you ready for spring?
Then you’ll enjoy “Waking up with Your Garden: Getting (re-) acquainted with your soil and planning your plantings” presented by Tom Roberts of Snake Root Organic Farm
The discussion will focus on when (and when not) to begin working in your garden, why doing your “indoor” homework helps keep your garden organized and how planning ahead pays off.

Come and get tips on how to start planting in your garden before your neighbors have even begun to till, how to decide what to plant where in your garden, and whether to buy or grow your own seedlings.
Show and tell items will include a wire weeder, a stirrup hoe, a digging fork, a Cape Cod hand weeder, an Earthway seeder, Agribon and anchoring pins, slitted row cover and hoops and compost.
There will be lots of display tables with samples including tomato, Echinacea and lupine seeds grown by Snakeroot Organic Farms.
The Pittsfield Garden Club, Go Green, FEDCO and others will have material on display, and information will be available on the possible Community Garden in Pittsfield
Local farms interested in having space at the forum can call 487-1361.
