Dr. Erik Steele will speak on health care reform at Mid-Maine Community Forum

PITTSFIELD – Dr. Erik Steele will be the guest speaker at the monthly Mid-Maine Community Forum on Thursday, Oct. 4 at the First Universalist Church of Pittsfield.
The public event takes place from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Dr. Steele will speak on “Health care reform: Yours, Your Community’s, and the Nations. Why You Should Not Be Afraid.”

He will give an overview of some of the high points of reform - not just the Affordable Care Act but the whole concept; why we should all be embracing it in our own way, and in our own lives, our communities, and nationally.
With wisdom and humor developed through years as a practicing physician and hospital administrator, Dr. Steele will discuss the status of Maine’s health care system and then open a conversation with the audience about what we can all do to ensure effective reform that benefits everyone.
Dr. Steele is Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer and Home Office Chief Administrative Officer of Eastern Maine Health Systems. He also writes a semimonthly health column for the Bangor Daily News and hosts Healthy Living, a special health segment, aired on WABI-TV, Channel 5.
