PITTSFIELD – Ernest DeRaps, author of the book “Lighthouse Keeping” will
present a program about Maine lighthouses at the Pittsfield Public Library on
Monday, June 4 at 3 p.m. Ernest DeRaps grew up in Palmyra and graduated from
Maine Central Institute in 1946. During
his Coast Guard career, he was the lighthouse keeper at four Maine light
stations. He and his family served on three
family lighthouses in Penobscot Bay.
With an intimate knowledge of Maine lighthouses as lighthouse keeper, he
has painted every lighthouse on the Maine coast.
